Turkey Tour - “Silo’s Message” in Turkish book presentation

During the month of March 2012 we could publish the Book of the Message in Turkish in Ankara, with the help of Media Editorial. Although it is a small publisher, it was very useful to quickly publish the book very cheaply. This allowed us to imagine and plan its presentation from May forward in some cities in Turkey, especially in those where the book could be available to the public by being found in bookstores.

From March until May, we prepared some materials to help divulge and bring Silo’s Message closer to people. So we did some posters, information flyers, press kits of the author, we published Comments on Silo’s Message published by Silo and a leaflet on the Healing of Suffering.

We also had the video “The Sage of the Andes” at hand.

In this same month of March, our Turkish friends, set up a stand at the Ankara Book Fair, where the book of Silo's Message was presented.
There were posters, press kits, leaflets on the Healing of Suffering.

In May we travelled to Istanbul, Ankara and Diyarbakir (where we inaugurated a salita) and we started preparing some contacts to help us during the tours of June and July of the same year, 2012.

On the same occasion, to travel to Diyarbakir we have spread leaflets on the Healing of Suffering in the Book Fair in Diyarbakir, where we also have contacts.

About 30 friends coming from various parks and about 7 Turkish friends interested in giving impulse to the divulging and knowledge about Silo’s Message participated in the two month tour.

We visited the cities of Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Ankara, Gaziantep, Antakya, Diyarbakir, Batman, Van, Dersim, Ovacik and Hozat. There we talked to some 150 persons who participated in the Service and Well Being ceremonies and left their emails and phone numbers. Some speak English, French, German but most of them speak Turkish and Kurdish.

We appeared in 6 newspapers in Batman, since a friend who participated in the salita in Diyarbakir, organized a press conference, where we did a ceremony of Well Being.

Now there are some salitas in some villages, where those who participated in the ceremonies, offered to start them up to start doing ceremonies (Hozat and Varto).

Though the distribution of the Book is now in bookstores in 8 cities, was done in an unprofessional way since we didn’t have either the economic means or the right contact and everything happened thanks to the Editor’s personal contacts. Since he is a friend and participates in the ceremonies in Ankara, he accompanied us for practically two months in almost all of the cities, opening the way for us, so that now the book is in these 8 cities.

The publishing of the book wouldn’t have been easy in conventional publishers since it is not a advertised book, the author doesn’t appear, the design is austere and there are no references of the time.

The distribution of just one book, outside the channels of distribution controlled by commercial, political and religious groups is not common.

We will change the press kit, giving it a profile which refers more to Silo’s Message with a spiritual focus and without mentioning the Humanist Movement.

We observed an irritation against Christian missionaries, who are considered enemies and sometimes they tried to identify us as such. This was cleared up, but it is important to know that in the Turkish environment Christian missionaries are not welcome.

It is important to always have some kind of translator, better yet one who knows the place and can help in the relationship with the environment, something which was not always possible.

It is recommended to go accompanied by Turks, Kurds, etc. Since they are local, they know the codes (customs) and can avoid misunderstandings with fundamentalist and violent religious persons.

It is important to pay attention to those who feel the need of overcoming suffering and those who ask for help in changing their internal situation of suffering. Something that many are not receptive to and cannot recognize this Message. In some cases they invited us to do Well Being ceremonies for them, inviting their family and their emotional disposition was an open door to connect with the profound.

This tour was also useful to see the participation and support, not only of friends from different parts which was very important, but of our Turkish friends as well.
 

Synthesis

The goal was putting the book in as many cities as possible in Turkey, so that it could be available to people and to do there some kind of activity allowing the organization of some ceremonies and sharing our experiences.

From this point of view, the tours were very positive, since the books are in bookstores in 8 cities and we could open the range of persons who could be interested in Silo’s Message in a large part of Turkey.

What is missing is doing Seminars, Retreats and seeing the feedback in the next months, so that some of them can organize events to allow the increasing knowledge (experience) about Silo’s Message. It is also necessary to translate the Manual for Messengers in Turkish.
